The World Series of Fighting promotion will at some point offer women’s fights, hopes to stage events in New York, and has signed an agreement to broadcast its fights on a Spanish-language station, President Ray Sefo said Tuesday.
Sefo made the announcements during a conference call with media members.
On having women’s fights in the WSOF, Sefo said: “At some point, that is going to happen. At this point, we don’t have enough talent to start a women’s division.”
Sefo said that he has joined the fight to make MMA legal in New York.
“We hope to come to New York and have a couple of shows here per year,” he said. “I’m sure that having our guys fighting at Madison Square Garden would be amazing, and all around New York.”
Sefo said further details regarding the promotion’s deal with Univision Deportes were still being worked out, but the network and promotion had agreed on a multi-fight deal to broadcast WSOF events, starting with Saturday’s WSOF 2 from Atlantic City, NJ.Tags: mma, MMA NEWS, WMMA, wsof
