World Series of Fighting continues to slowly introduce championships into their weight-classes, and the next one just might be light heavyweight. According to the WSOF brass, with a win over Mike Kyle, Anthony Johnson will be one of the participants in the inaugural title fight.
“If Anthony comes out on top in this fight, he’ll definitely be fighting for a title in his next fight,” Ray Sefo, WSOF President, said during a WSOF 8 media call.
It would certainly be difficult to make a case against Johnson (15-4) getting a title shot; “Rumble” is 7-1 in his last fights, with his lone loss in that stretch coming to to Vitor Belfort in 2012. Since his exodus from the UFC due to weight-related issues, Johnson has won five straight, including a heavyweight fight against Andrei Arlovski in WSOF. He next fights against Mike Kyle (20-10-1) at WSOF 8, which takes place in Hollywood, Florida on January 18th.Tags: Anthony Johnson, Mike Kyle, mma, MMA NEWS, ray sefo, ufc, ufc news, Vitor Belfort, world series of fighting
