Wineland Considering Retirement After Second Jaw Injury

Eddie Wineland may be considering putting and end to his UFC career.

On Friday, Wineland will have wires removed from his jaw, an injury he sustained last month in his bout against Johnny Edwardo at UFC Fight Night 40, and while he’s on the track to healing, he feels that it may be time to hang up his gloves.

On the Wednesday airing of UFC Tonight, Wineland mentioned that after suffering through a second broken jaw (the first in one of his regional matches back in 2004), he was not very keen on experiencing injuries like this again, and that it just may be his time to retire.

Wineland was the former WEC Bantamweight Champion and has remained a full-time firefighter in Chesterton, Indiana, so his plate is still pretty full, but only time will tell if the fan-favorite will go through with a full retirement from the sport.
