White Clarifies Rumors – Sonnen vs. Belfort Will Be At 185Lbs, Wanderlei Not Cut

By BJPENN.COM News - May 30, 2014

Good news for Silva fans, the UFC boss has corrected previous reports about the release of Wanderlei Silva.

MMAJunkie.com was the first to report of Silva’s release, stating that Dana White said, ‘Silva’s done in the UFC’. However those reports appear to be false.

Now, according to UFC on FOX insider, Ariel Helwani, Silva is still an active roster holder that will have to answer to the NSAC and not the UFC about his drug testing indiscretions.

The UFC boss also clarified the Sonnen vs. Belfort booking, stating that the two will fight at middleweight and that Belfort will be due a shot at the title should he win, but Sonnen will not have that same luxury.

Sonnen had previously stated on ‘UFC Tonight’ that his fight with Vitor was for a title shot.

There you have it, all is right with the world again.
