Weidman calls for immediate rematch against Rockhold

By bjpenndotcom - January 12, 2016

Back in the co-main event of UFC 194, Luke Rockhold put on a spectacular performance against Chris Weidman en route to a 4th round TKO win to claim the UFC middleweight championship.

While the win was certainly a dominant one for Rockhold, former champion Chris Weidman knows he can do better than he showed, and is looking to prove it sooner rather than later.

There’s been much speculation as to who Rockhold would defend his title against first. While Yoel Romero earned himself a title shot with his win over Jacare Souza at UFC 194, many fans want to see Weidman given an immediate rematch. In addition, Rockhold would like to retire Vitor Belfort at UFC 200.

Weidman spoke to MMAFighting to discuss the fight, as well as why he wants an immediate rematch.

“That’s the fight I want. I’d say that’s the fight I deserve, and that would be the biggest fight of my life.

“That trumps my Anderson Silva fights. That trumps my Lyoto Machida, my Vitor (Belfort) fights. It trumps everything. That’s the biggest fight of my life. I’m going to be a completely different animal, motivated more than ever, and I’m going to go repay him for what he did to me. No personal vendetta. No emotion. Just competitively, just go out there and just completely demolish him.”

“That’s all I’m focused on. Right now, I’m training already. I’m just so hungry and determined and the only face I see is Luke Rockhold’s.”
