WATCH! Is the UFC making a mistake by potentially letting Aljamain Sterling go?

By Russell Ess - December 18, 2015

Undefeated bantamweight and former Cage Fury Fighting Championships champion Aljamain Sterling may be on the road to testing free agency. Sterling successfully fought last week with a second-round submission win over Johnny Eduardo at UFC Fight Night 80.

Sterling posted a video of his post-fight celebration with the caption reading, “When the @UFC calls your manager and tells them you’re good to start shopping around as a #FreeAgentProspect.#BiggestThreatToAny135Roster #5 th #Ranked #FreshPrinceofNY #HumanAnaconda #ufc #UFCRock #dab #undefeated #newyork”

Sterling obviously possesses a lot of talents and has the charisma to be a marketable fighter in the UFC. However, coming off four consecutive wins with three of them finishes, it sounds like the UFC does not have much of an interest in Sterling.

Former UFC veteran and current Bellator MMA fighter Josh Thomson’s advice is to go to the highest promotional bidder. It looks like the “Funk Master” may be looking to take that advice.

What are your thoughts on Aljamain Sterling and the UFC’s choice to let him shop the market? Does the UFC bantamweight division need him? Explain yourself in the comments!
