Wandy’s Going After The NSAC –– Initiates Nevada Supreme Court Appeal

By BJPENN.COM News - September 11, 2015

Former Pride FC legend and UFC fighter Wanderlei Silva is once again dealing with legal issues, except this time, he’s the one initiating it.

Silva and his legal team have initiated an appeal for the Nevada Supreme Court to rule on whether or not the Nevada State Athletic Commission were within their rights to lay down a lifetime ban on Silva in 2014.

Silva and his team are trying to say that the NSAC had no right to hand down that punishment, since at the time of the incident, in which Silva fled from a drug test, he wasn’t even licensed by the commission.

Here’s what a his lawyer said in a brief, obtained by MMAJunkie:

“This case requires the court to vindicate a basic proposition: an agency cannot expand its jurisdiction and take disciplinary action against someone it does not license.”
