Wanderlei Silva Wants to Fight Chael Sonnen in Brazil

By bjpenndotcom - May 30, 2013

Recently, there has been a lot of bad blood between Wanderlei Silva and perennial title-contender, Chael Sonnen. Sonnen has called out Wanderlei , offering to donate his fight purse to children in Silva’s hometown of “Braz- Las Vegas”.

Silva didn’t respond to Sonnen’s challenge as he stated that the UFC hadn’t approached him.

Now, Silva has come out showing interest the most interested that he’s shown in the fight yet, besides of course stating that he sought to break Sonnen’s nose.

“I will not fight in Boston, that’s right. Sonnen still (has) not been officially proposed, no one called me offering to fight. Is it interesting? Yes, very. But if it is held, will be after Boston. Before, or in Boston, no. Now, in Brazil would be a dream. I think he’d even have to wear armor and earplug to walk there. A fight against Sonnen in Brazil would be very interesting. My last in the country was in Belo Horizonte, and the audience was wonderful, was very well received. I had a week of king, did fight of the night … It was a very good experience. Fight with Sonnen is good for any event. I’m ready for December, in the year-end event. (I need to rest) my head and body for now, because my last fight was very difficult because I was recording the TUF and prepared there. This year I was already two months away from home, and now I have to rest a bit.”

Silva refers to Boston as rumors tabbed him fighting Sonnen as the main event of UFC on Fox Sports 1 #1.

Sonnen most recently lost his las bout against Jon Jones at UFC 159.

As for Silva, a fight of the year candidate against Brian Stann was his last outing. The fight was a back-and-forth affair and ended in the second as Silva landed a huge right hook that dropped Stann, followed by some shots to force the referee to call the fight.

This hatred for one another stems not only from Sonnen’s insults on the Brazilian people in his build up for the Anderson Silva fight, but also from an April Fool’s day prank pulled by Silva. Silva claimed that he was replacing an injured Alexander Gustafsson within a week of his scheduled bout against Gegard Mousasi. Sonnen called the prank a “dirt-bag move”.

Just to make things worse, an un-dated photo has been circulating, showing Chael Sonnen allegedly urinating on Wanderlei Silva’s official team van.

Now we wait to see if the fight will materialize setting up a perfect stylistic matchup, depending on where the fight takes place.
