Vitor Belfort stepped into the octagon at UFC 187 with the hopes of grabbing gold again, but his dreams were crushed by reigning champion Chris Weidman in just one round. Now, Belfort is back in training and is ready to start from the bottom to gain another shot at the title.

“When I see this, I see I can be here and fight more. I still can do another run for the title,” Belfort told SporTV.

Belfort suffered a tough loss to Weidman in May and was battered before the referee was forced to stop the fight in the first round. The following day, Dana White called and asked if he wanted to make another run at the title.

“I got a phone call from Lorenzo and Dana the next day, asking me how I was,” Belfort said. “My last year and a half were really tough, adapting, a lot of changes. ‘Do you want to do another title run?’ They know my potential. They called me to know how I was and if I want another title run. I know I’m still at the top of the division.”

Belfort is still among the top of the heap in the middleweight division, currently ranked third. Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza will likely be challenging for the championship after Luke Rockhold fight Chris Weidman. Who would you like to see Belfort fight in the meantime?
