EXCLUSIVE | Vinny Magalhaes UFC Return Interview… Spoiled by Renato Laranjo & They Fight | UFC NEWS

Vinny Magalhaes was a finalist in the UFC’s The Ultimate Fighter reality show. He faced Ryan Bader in the finals of The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir season as most predicted he would. He lost the fight to Bader by TKO in round one and was unable to follow up with a win in his first UFC run. Subsequently, he was released from his UFC contract.

After his release from the UFC, Magalhaes decided to make a change. His training started to include more striking and MMA specific grappling. Vinny realized that being at the top level in jiu jitsu did not translate to automatic wins in The Octagon. MMA became a priority so much so that he decided to make winning grappling tournaments second to his preparations to step back inside the cage.

Last week BJPenn.com conducted an interview with 27 time Brazilian Jiu Jitsu World Champion Renato Laranja. Laranja has terrorized Eddie Bravo and his 10th Planet jiu jitsu schools for quite a while now. His focus as of late has changed to Michael Bisping and the aforementioned Vinny Magalhaes. During our exclusive interview with Vinny, Renato calls in and confronts him. Laranja claims Magalhaes has insulted his mother and that Vinny is afraid to face him. Magalhaes responds with words of his own, and things get heated quickly.

In what may be his most controversial recording to date, Renato unloads his frustrations on Vinny and Maghaelesthrows the gauntlet down with a challenge.
