The highly anticipated title-unification bout between UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez, and interim heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum, has been set for UFC 188 in Mexico City on June 13th.

Televisa Deportes broke the news, which was later confirmed by UFC.

Velasquez hasn’t been in the Octagon since September of 2013, when he picked up a 5th round TKO win over Junior Dos Santos to defend his championship. Following that he coached opposite Werdum on TUF: Latin America, but was forced out of their title bout at UFC 180 after tearing his meniscus, and spraining his MCL.

After it was announced that Velasquez was out of the bout against Werdum, Mark Hunt stepped in on short notice to fight for the interim belt. Werdum went on to win that bout via TKO in the 2nd round, extending his win streak to 5.
