Velasquez Comes Out As Slight Favorite Over Champ Werdum

Cain Velasquez Bloody

Fabricio Werdum shocked the world (again) when he beat UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez in Mexico City this past June. However, with the rematch announced, it appears that oddsmakers aren’t ready to give him the nod.

According to the current odds on BestFightOdds.com, the former champ is actually the slight favorite. The venue and date for the fight has yet to be announced, but the odds are already showing that the whole ‘altitude’ debate probably played a factor in the odds making.

A lot of people point to the fact that Velasquez wasn’t as prepared for the extreme altitude as Werdum was. Fabricio took his camp down to Mexico several weeks in advance and seemed to be used to it while fighting at UFC 188.

Velasquez: -130

Werdum: +124
