Valerie ‘The Underdog’ Letourneau: I have nothing to lose

By bjpenndotcom - October 28, 2015

Ahead of her UFC 193 title shot against Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Valerie Letourneau has been dismissed by many fans who believe she doesn’t stand a chance against the undefeated Jedrzejczyk.

When preparing for a fight against one of the most dangerous athletes on the planet, most fighters would feel an immense amount of pressure. However, Letourneau isn’t like most fighters.

She spoke to MMAJunkie to discuss how she feels about being such a massive underdog, and why it won’t matter when she steps in the Octagon to fight the champion.

“It never crossed my mind in my life to see what the odds were for my fight, because it’s not going to change anything in the fight.”

“You know what? She’s going in there with all the pressure. I’m going in there with nothing to lose.”

Despite not knowing the betting odds, Letourneau knows she’s a massive underdog. At the time this article was published Bovado had Jedrzejczyk as a -2000 favorite, while Letourneau is a +900 underdog. In other words, you would have to bet $2,000 on Jedrzejczyk in order to potentially win $100, while betting $100 on the underdog Letourneau would potentially win you $900.
