Uh-Oh! UFC Has Deadspin And Sb Nation Twitters Shut Down

By BJPENN.COM News - October 13, 2015

The UFC and the NFL got two Twitter accounts shut down for apparently violating the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, or basically because the accounts were showing short clips of copyrighted material, i.e. clips of PPV events and other sports events.

The UFC and NFL complained to Twitter, who then suspended the accounts @Deadspin and @SBNationGIFs. As of now, the Deadspin account is back up while the SB Nation GIFs account is still shut down.

Here’s an excerpt about the situation, via MMA.TV

In the case of Deadspin, the UFC specifically demanded Twitter “immediately disable access to the individual who has uploaded the copyright infringing content.” The clip in question was from UFC 190, and featured Ronda Rousey vs. Bethe Correia.

UFC demanded further that “any and all accounts this individual has through you” be terminated, giving Twitter 10 minutes to reply.

These days it’s common practice to see GIFs and Vines of exciting or important sports events on Twitter, but it looks like they’re going to be keeping a closer eye on them.
