The UFC’s next “Fight for the Troops” card is rapidly taking shape.
Two more bouts were recently announced for the event, takes place on Nov. 6 at Fort Campbell in Kentucky.
Dennis Bermudez (11-3) will face veteran Nik Lentz (24-5-2) while Michael Chiesa (9-1 ) will take on Colton Smith (3-2) .
At “UFC Fight Night 31: UFC Fight for the Troops 3,” Lyoto Machida drops to middleweight to face Tim Kennedy in the night’s main event.
The two new bouts have an “The Ultimate Fighter” flavor to them.
Featherweight Bermudez was a finalist on “The Ultimate Fighter 14,” where he lost to Diego Brandao. But, Bermudez is unbeaten since, tallying four straight wins in a run that includes both a “Fight of the Night” and “Submission of the Night” bonus. Lentz is on a three-fight win streak after victories over Hacran Dias, Diego Nunes and Eiji Mitsuoka. Lentz is undefeated as a featherweight after competing as a lightweight in his first nine trips to the UFC cage.
The Chiesa vs. Smith matchup features a bout between former “The Ultimate Fighter” winners.
Chiesa was the “TUF 15” champ. After winning that, he then earned a victory over Anton Kuivanen before losing for the first time in his career in July against Jorge Masivdal. Smith is an active Army Ranger and the winner of “The Ultimate Fighter 16.” He then lost his follow-up bout in May to Robert Whittaker via TKO. Smith now drops to 155 pounds for the first time.
