By BJPENN.COM News - June 26, 2014

The Ultimate Fighting Championship and Japan’s ‘Vale Tudo/Shooto’ promotion have joined forces for the greater good.

UFC President Dana White announced, during today’s Tokyo Press Conference, that the two companies have formed a partnership that includes a new TV series.

The Television series is set to feature bantamweight and featherweight talent in a tournament style format that will ultimately award the winners a UFC contract.

“Much like ‘The Ultimate Fighter,’ this series will continue to cultivate and popularize top talent for us in new markets. The round-robin tournament concept is going to make for amazing fights, with a lot at stake. Every fight will matter, every performance will count. I am so excited to be back in Japan,” said UFC President Dana White.

Details about the new reality series are expecting to be revealed in the coming weeks.
