UFC sets attendance record with “UFC 193: Rousey vs. Holm”

By BJPENN.COM News - November 15, 2015

When UFC President Dana White announced “UFC 193” would take place in Melbourne, Australia’s Etihad Stadium it was expected the company would break their attendance record previously held by UFC 129. 55,724 screaming fans packed the Rogers Centre in 2011 to watch Georges St. Pierre handle Jake Shields at UFC 129. Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm helped break that record at “UFC 193” on Saturday evening with their intense main-event.

While they didn’t exactly shatter the record, White mentioned during the post-fight press conference that they packed 56,214 fans in the Etihad Stadium on Saturday night!

Holm stunned the 56,000+ in attendance when she knocked Rousey out in the second round of their championship fight. Rousey was previously undefeated walking into this fight and despite losing the title, she will continue to be a fan favorite and one of the most popular fighters the UFC has ever seen. Her reign on top is far from over; She will remain a draw and will likely face Holm in a rematch for their next bout.
