It was announced today that the UFC on FUEL TV 6 event will officially take place November 10 in Macau, China. The event takes place at the Venetian Macau Resort-Hotel, which is located in a special administrative region of China.
The main event of the evening will feature former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin (29-6 MMA, 14-5 UFC) taking on former Strikeforce middleweight champion Cung Le (8-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC).
Franklin and Le had been scheduled to fight earlier this year at UFC 148, but that bout was scrapped so that Franklin could step in for an injured Vitor Belfort, and fight Wanderlei Silva at UFC 147. Franklin went on to win that rematch with Wanderlei by unanimous decision.
The former Strikeforce middleweight champion, Cung Le, remained on the UFC 148 card and fought Patrick Cote. Le ended up defeating “The Predator” by unanimous decision that night, collecting his first UFC victory in the process.
Other bouts that have been made official by the UFC include:
Dong Hyun Kim (15-2-1 MMA, 6-2 UFC) vs. Paulo Thiago (14-4 MMA, 4-4 UFC) in a welterweight showdown.
Kim had a great start to his UFC career winning his first 5 fights but since then he has struggled, going 1-2 in his past 3 bouts. Kim suffered a KO loss to interim welterweight champ Carlos Condit and was most recently defeated by Demian Maia at UFC 148 after suffering a bad back spasm early in the contest.
The Brazilian Thiago, burst onto the scene in 2009, when he upset Josh Koscheck in his UFC debut. Paulo won three of his first four fights in the octagon. But like his Korean opponent, Paulo now finds himself in a must-win situation, following three defeats in his past four fights. Those three losses came at the hands of Martin Kampmann, Diego Sanchez and Siyar Bahadurzada.
Stanislav Nedkov (12-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) vs. Thiago Silva (14-3 MMA, 5-3 UFC) in a light heavyweight bout.
Nedkov moved his undefeated record to a perfect 12-0 when he scored a TKO victory over Luiz Cane in his octagon debut. Nedkov now faces veteran Thiago Silva, whose return from a year long layoff (due to a failed drug test) was spoiled by a loss to Alexander Gustafsson in April. The former contender has gone 1-3 in his past four bouts, this after starting his career 13-0.
Tiequan Zhang (15-3 MMA, 1-2 UFC) vs. Jon Tuck (6-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) in a lightweight tilt.
The China native, Zhang, will be looking to get back into the win column in front of his home crowd. Zhang has suffered back-to-back losses to Darren Elkins and Issei Tamura, this after winning his UFC debut against Jason Reinhardt via submission. He faces Tuck, who is undefeated in his young MMA career, with all six victories coming by 1st round stoppage.
Tickets for the November 10th event go on sale to the general public this friday.
