UFC ON FUEL TV 10 RESULTS: Erick Silva Shows Off BJJ Black-Belt With 1st Round Submission of Jason High

June 8, 2013 6:23 pm by Jake Chastain

| This fight card has been dynamite for the Brazilian fans and fighters! This fight, just like the first two on the fight card, was ended quickly by submission in the first round. Following suit behind Rony Jason and Daniel Sarafian, Erick Silva stepped into the octagon and made quick work of Jason High using his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black-belt.

As the fight began my first thoughts were that Silva looked so much bigger than Jason High. A few strikes were thrown and as High tried to take a shot Silva used a front-head lock to transition to the back of High. As High tried shake Silva over the top of him Silva, like  a smooth criminal, slipped right on to an arm lock while sliding off the top of High.

Jason High tried to defend but Silva then latched on to a triangle as well, then transitioned back to the arm-lock before getting the submission victory in the opening minutes of the fight.

The victory was impressive and Silva looks like a legitimate threat in the welterweight division. His size, power, speed and overall skills make him a scary match-up for any fighter in the UFC. He was coming off of the loss to Jon Fitch but this victory surely catapults him back into the top ranks of the welterweight division.

Very shape skills with, like I said, his size could spell title-contention if he can rattle off one or two more consecutive wins.
