UFC on FOX 17 Results: Cole Miller vs. Jim Alers ends in a no-contest

A featherweight bout between Cole Miller (21-9 MMA) and Jim Alers (13-2 MMA) kicked off the UFC on FOX 17 prelims on FOX Sports 1.

Alers lands an inside leg kick to get things started. Cole responds with a quick jab that lands flush. Another leg kick scores for Alers. Again Miller responds with a jab followed by a right hand. Good left hook lands for Alers. Both men seem happy to stand and trade. Big right hand from Alers. He follows that up with another left hook. Miller responds with a stiff jab. Good leg kick lands for Miller. Miller throws an axe-kick but misses. One minute to go and Miller lands a solid left hook. Alers tags Miller with a right hand and Miller responds with another jab to close out round one.

Good leg kicks from Alers to begin round two. Miller responds with a leg kick of his own. Alers throwing some big punches but nothing is landing. Miller presses forward and lands a solid body kick followed by a punch. Accidental eye poke from Alers and the referee steps in and asks for a doctor to check out Miller.

The eye poke was a bad one and Cole Miller is unable to continue. The fight is ruled a no-contest.
