Top 10 heavyweight fighter, Fabricio Werdum is making a comeback to the UFC against Roy Nelson on Super Bowl weekend.
UFC 143 is set to take place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on February 4th. Nick Diaz will face Carlos Condit for the UFC’s interim welterweight title live on pay-per-view.
After a long stint under the STRIKEFORCE banner, Fabricio Werdum will return to the Octagon for the first time since a 2008 loss to current heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos. While away from the UFC Werdum racked up victories over the likes of Antonio Silva and Mike Kyle. But it was his 2010 submission victory over Fedor Emelianenko that has forever etched his name in the history books.
Ready to welcome Werdum back to the UFC is none other than “The Ultimate Fighter 10” winner, Roy “Big Country” Nelson. Nelson was last seen at UFC 137 dispatching the legendary Mirko Cro Cop via a third round TKO stoppage. The win snapped a two fight losing streak at the hands of Frank Mir and Junior Dos Santos.
Promotion officials have yet to officially announce the Werdum vs. Nelson bout, but it is expected to be featured on the main portion of the UFC 143 pay-per-view card.
