UFC NEWS | UFC On FOX 2 | Preliminary Ratings Are In For Last Night’s UFC on FOX 2 Event

January 29, 2012 11:10 am by Pedro Carrasco

UFC on FOX 2 took place tonight from the sold-out United Center in Chicago.

In the main event, Phil Davis squared off with Rashad Evans for the number one contender seat in the UFC’s light-heavyweight division ruled over by Jon Jones and Evans took the win. The co-feature of the evening was a middleweight number one contender bout between Michael Bisping and Chael Sonnen and Sonnen took the victory. The televised main card aired for free on FOX and the preliminary portion was delegated to FUEL TV.

The overnight ratings are now in for the UFC’s return trip to FOX TV and if our first attempt at trying to analyze these network ratings are an indicator than last night’s show was a moderate success.

Here is the report from TV By The Numbers:

FOX easily cruised to victory in adults 18-49 with two hours of UFC on FOX 2 with a fight card headlined by Evans vs. Davis. Again, these numbers are far more likely to be adjusted (and adjusted up) than normal due to the nature of live programming. But in the preliminary non time zone adjusted numbers the fight card averaged a 2.2 adults 18-49 rating between 8-10p and 4.37 million viewers.

The report shows a 4.37 million figure, but this same outlet reported a 2.5 million digit in their overnight ratings write up following UFC on Fox 1. Once all the viewers are tabulated it seems like this first estimate is drastically on the low side. UFC on FOX 1 ended up coming in in the 8-9 Million ranges and UFC on FOX 2 will likely see a drastic increase from these initial findings as well.
