Probably best known for ending the hype of wrestling star Bobby Lashley, Chad Griggs is one of many heavyweights on the Strikeforce roster with huge amounts of potential.
He now gets to test that potential in the Octagon.
It was recently announced that Strikeforce is intending on halting all heavyweight fights at the conclusion of their heavyweight grand prix. Outside of one additional fight for the grand prix champion, the division is closed for business. As such the brass over at the UFC now has a nice stable of fighters to cherry pick from.
We announced yesterday that Lavar Johnson crossed the promotional boundary and will face joey Beltran on the UFC on FOX 2 card and now, Chad Griggs is the latest Strikeforce heavyweight to join the ranks.
Griggs follows in the footsteps of the aforementioned Johnson, Overeem and Werdum and is likely just part of the total heavyweight acquisition planned by the UFC.
Griggs went on an in impressive three fight run under the Strikeforce banner that included wins over Bobby Lashley, Gian Villante and Valentijn Overeem.
His debut opponent and date have not yet been determined by the UFC.
