UFC NEWS – Amir Sadollah Out Of UFC 143 Bout With Injury, Matt Riddle Steps In As Replacement

That pesky injury bug is hard at work again, this time taking out Ultimate Fighter winner, Amir Sadollah from his scheduled date with Jorge Lopez.

The two were originally scheduled to meet in next month’s UFC 143 event and now the bout is scratched due to an undisclosed injury.

In Sadollah’s place comes fellow TUF alumnus, Matt Riddle.

UFC 143 is set to take place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on Super Bowl weekend. Georges St. Pierre was originally scheduled to headline the event against the newest title challenger Nick Diaz, however an injury forced him off the card and Diaz will now face Carlos Condit for the UFC’s interim welterweight title.

The Wanderlei Silva trained Lopez enters his second UFC bout on the heels of a debut loss to Justin Edwards at UFC Fight Night 25. The loss snapped a 10-fight win streak for the welterweight stand-out who will no doubt be out to prove a point against Riddle.

Riddle was originally scheduled to face Luis Ramos at last week’s UFC 141 event, however after making weight the fighter became ill and was forced to withdraw on the day of the fight.

He last saw the inside of a cage when he stepped in against Lance Benoist at UFC’s “Fight Night 25: Ellenberger vs. Shields” event. He struggled with his opponent from the opening of the first round and eventually dropped a unanimous decision. After going 5-1 inside the UFC the Fight Night 25 loss marked his second straight defeat inside the Cage. All of Riddle’s pro bouts have been in the UFC.
