In typical UFC fashion, the promotion is booking a host of regional talent for their debut event in Sweden.
As a result, Swedish fighter and Ultimate Fighter competitor, Akira Corassani is set to face Jason Young during the UFC on FUEL TV 2 fight card this April
UFC on FUEL TV 2 is now officially set to take place at the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden on April 14th. In the main event of the evening light-heavyweight fighters Alexander Gustafsson and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira will square off in a three-round matchup that is pivotal to the 205 pound division.
Corassani was introduced to UFC fans as a cast member on “The Ultimate Fighter” season 14 show. Having not faced professional competition since a TKO loss to Paul Reed on the regional circuit in early 2011, the controversial Corassani took to the Ultimate Fighter where he was eliminated in the semi-finals of the series. Injury forced him off of his scheduled UFC debut on “The Ultimate Fighter” season 14 finale, however he now gets to fight in front of his hometown crowd against Young.
Young has much to prove in welcoming Corassani to the Octagon. In a bout that likely determines his future with the promotion; he is in desperate need of a win after dropping consecutive bouts to Dustin Poirier and Michihiro Omigawa.
No word on the bouts placement on the evening’s card but it will likely be featured on the preliminary portion of the evening.
