UFC on FOX 14 is in the books and what an amazing event it was. Instead of a Fight of the Night bonus, UFC officials dished out FOUR performance of the night bonuses.
Performance of the Night: Makwan Amirkhani
Amirkhani made quite the splash with his performance in the octagon tonight. He was able to knock Andy Ogle out in just eight seconds with a flying knee right off the bat. He hopes the UFC will give him time to train more so he can improve and put on an even better performance in the octagon.
Performance of the Night: Gegard Mousasi
Mousasi walked into the octagon tonight as the favorite and put his opponent away in less than five minutes. It was in controversial fashion, but there is no doubt that Mousasi at least dazed Henderson. The referee was concerned for Henderson’s safety and the finish could be argued, but Mousasi was unfazed and looked like a killer tonight.
Performance of the Night: Kenny Robertson
Robertson got caught with a spinning side kick but landed a counter right hand that dropped Aliev. Robertson simply towered over Aliev and fired off a couple more shots for good measure. Robertson just popped up on everybody’s list of fighters to look out for in 2015,
Performance of the Night: Anthony Johnson
Is this really a surprise? Anthony Johnson believed he could knock Alexander Gustafsson out in the first round and did just that. He cracked him with several shots and it was clear Gustafsson was out of it. The referee gave him every chance he could to recover, but there was no coming back from “Rumble’s” blows.
