| This lightweight scrap was bound to be an explosive one and it was nothing but pure excitement!

It didn’t take long for Trinaldo to find his range as he started throwing some big shots early. He missed with some huge kicks but with about three minutes left in the round he landed a huge body kick on Hallamann that backed him up. Trinaldo started pressing the pace a little more and actually landed the body kick a couple more times. When Hallmann started blocking the body kick he went back upstairs with the kick. Hallmann, though, continued to stay in there and scrap with Trinaldo. More perseverance for UFC Fight Night 28! Although Hallmann survived and showed heart, the round it was all Trinaldo. He gets the nod this round, 10-9, for the brutal body kicks and pressure he applied.

In the second round Hallmann came out looking for the takedowns. He scored one early and then continued to stick with that game plan. As Trinaldo started showing signs of fatigue Hallmann continued to push the pace. He scored another takedown on Trinaldo and started landing some really big elbows. Trinaldo was starting to look extremely gassed and with a little over a minute left Hallmann isolated Trinaldo’s arm and committed to a kimura from side-control. Moments later Trinaldo was forced to tap and Hallmann had capped off a remarkable comeback win and a huge upset!

In Piotr Hallmann’s UFC debut he was able to weather the early storm put on by the hometown favorite and notch on his first win in the big show. He ate several hard kicks to the boy in the first round, continued to grind on Trinaldo in the second round and was able to outlast the Brazilian and lock on to a kimura-submission victory.

This was an impressive and exciting debut for Hallmann and BJPenn.com will be keeping an eye on the him in the near future. He showed heart, durability, and solid technique. The future could be bright for Hallmann and a win over a big name like Trinaldo is just the right way to kick in the door on your way to the top.

Stay posted to BJPenn.com to see what the UFC wants to do with Hallmann next.
