Rafael dos Anjos stunned the world of mixed martial arts when he defeated Anthony Pettis at FUC 185. Dos Anjos walked into the bout as a heavy underdog, but walked out with the UFC Lightweight Championship…

…and he did it all with a torn MCL.

Dos Anjos dominated the champion with only one good leg and dethroned him of his gold. Now that he’s the champion, Dos Anjos will be taking the proper amount of time off to rehabilitate his injury. “I want to train at 100 percent, but I think I should be ready to fight at the beginning of November or the end of October,” he told MMAJunkie. He continued, “Because once I start training, I need 16 weeks to get ready for a title fight.”

The champion went on to give a timetable for his return to the cage. “[Dr. said] I should be back training in three months. So far, we have 45 days [since the knee injury], and this kind of injury is kind of hard. I still feel my knee. I can’t train.”
