Being UFC heavyweight champion comes with certain accolades. Among those are the title of ‘baddest man on the planet,’ a Harley Davidson motorcycle, and of course, being on the cover of video games. Unless you’re Cain Velasquez, who, according to UFC President Dana White, has opted out of the latter honor by choosing not to be in the running for the second spot on the UFC’s newest EA Sports video game cover (pictured) that will be released next spring.

Of all the UFC divisional champions, only one is certain to not appear on the cover of the UFC’s newest EA Sports video game: heavyweight champion, Cain Velasquez. And if you ask UFC President Dana White, he’ll tell you it’s the champ’s perogative.
As the UFC and EA Sports prepare for the release of the game in the spring of next year, promotional sponsor Metro PCS has put on a contest to decide who will be featured on the game’s cover. It was already announced Monday that light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, will be on the cover – and fans can vote to decided which fighter will join Jones.
Among the fans’ choices are the champions from all the UFC’s weight divisions except Velasquez at heavyweight (and bantamweight interim champion, Renan Barao). While many were confused as to why one of the champions wasn’t even an option for fans to choose – especially given his most recent, and dominant, title defense against Junior dos Santos – UFC president Dana White said Velasquez conceded by choice.
“I think that Cain felt he’s the heavyweight champion and he doesn’t want to be in a vote to see if he should be on the cover,” White said in a conference call Tuesday. “I can’t blame him for that.”
Voting has already begun at UFC.com and will continue through December 1. The official retail cover will be unveiled on December 28 at UFC 168.
