Preparing for its return to Sacramento with its UFC on FOX 9 event in December, the UFC is not surprisingly adding local fighters to the card. The organization announced on Twitter Wednesday night that Sacramento-based fighter, Danny Castillo, would be facing skilled Brazilian kickboxer, Edson Barboza.
Already on the UFC on FOX 9 card is a lightweight match up between newly crowned champion, Anthony Pettis, and challenger Josh Thomson.
Castillo (16-5) has a 6-2 record in the UFC since his debut in 2011. The Team Alpha Male is coming into this fight with two consecutive unanimous-decision victories.
Barboza (12-1) has had an incredible run in the UFC, winning 6 of his 7 fights in the organization, 4 by T/KO. He holds one of the most memorable head-kick finishes to be scored in the UFC with a wheel kick to Terry Etim in their fight at UFC 142.
UFC on FOX 9 will take place December 14 at the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, CA. A number of big-name local fighters will be on the card including San Jose fighter, Josh Thomson, and local Team Alpha Male fighters like Castillo, Urijah Faber and Chad Mendes.Tags: Anthony Pettis, Danny Castillo, Edson Barboza, Josh Thomson, mma, MMA NEWS, team alpha male, ufc, ufc news, UFC on FOX, UFC on FOX 9
