The UFC has been working overtime to crank out exciting matches for this summer and fall lately, and they haven’t stopped yet as they’ve added two new bouts to the UFC 178 card, set to take place in Las Vegas on September 27th, 2014.
The first addition is a welterweight throw down between Patrick Cote (20-8) and Stephen Thompson (9-1). Cote is coming off of a three-fight win streak, his last victory being over Kyle Noke at the TUF Nations Finale in April. Stephen Thompson is also coming off of a three-fight win streak of him own. His latest bout brought him victory over Robert Whittaker in February by TKO.
The second addition to the UFC 178 card is another welterweight match with Brian Ebersole (50-16) going against John Howard (22-9). Ebersole is now in the “do or die” position where a win in this fight will definitely be needed. His last two fights have produced losses against James Head and Rick Story. John Howard has won two of his last three fights in the UFC, but his most recent bout served him a unanimous decision loss from Ryan LaFlare.
The UFC 178 Pay-Per-View wwill be headlined by the highly anticipated Jones vs Gustafsson rematch, and will also see the surprise return of former Bantamweight champion, Dominick Cruz against Takeya Mizugaki.
