UFC 172 Results: Rockhold Easily Submits Boetsch with Kimura in First Round

By bjpenndotcom - April 26, 2014

Luke Rockhold was a -900 favorite for a reason, and he proved the bookies right with his first round win tonight.

Tim Boetsch shot for a takedown and Luke Rockhold stuffed it. As Boetsch was working for a single from his knees, he got locked up in a reverse triangle lock and Rockhold started working the body from that point on.

Boetsch tried to defend the punches and knees to his body with his free arm which Rockhold grabbed a hold of. Rockhold started to work for the kimura and it was only a matter of time before Boetsch was forced to submit.

Rockhold stated the the reverse triangle was his ‘bread and butter’ so it was nothing special.
