Ryan Couture will now be facing “The Ultimate Fighter 15” finalist Al Iaquinta at UFC 164, as a fractured hand forced his original opponent, Quinn Mulhern, to pull from their August match-up.
The Las Vegas Sun first reported the update, and UFC officials later confirmed the switch in fighters.
Ryan Couture (6-2) will be making his second appearance in the Octagon at UFC 164. The son of UFC Hall-of-Famer, Randy Couture, lost his organizational debut in a second round TKO loss to Ross Pearson.
Iaquinta also lost his UFC debut, where he was choked out by Michae Chiesa in the first round of The Ultimate Fighter Live finale.
Couture-Iaquinta will most likely feature on the preliminary card of UFC 164, a card that will feature UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson taking on top-contender Anthony Pettis in a much-anticipated rematch.
UFC 164 will take place August 31 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, and it will air live on Pay-Per-View following preliminary bouts on FOX Sports 1 and Facebook.
