The prelims on FX are in the books and here’s a recap of the action. Khabib Nurmagomedov dominated Abel Trujillo on his way to a unanimous decision. Nurmagomedov came in 3 lbs over the limit, but showed no effects of the bad weight cut and literally threw Trujillo around the octagon on his way to easily winning a decision. Nurmagomedov set a UFC record with 21 takedowns on 27 attempts.

Robert Whitaker TKO’d Colton Smith to make an impressive UFC debut, Whitaker dominated the first 2 rounds before landing a nice left hand that Smith practically ran in to, after a couple more blows on the ground the referee stop the fight ending a dominating performance from Whitaker.
Dennis Bermudez squeezed out a spilt decision win over Max Holloway, in what was a bit of a lackluster affair for most of the first 2 rounds, Bermudez got the nod over Holloway using his superior wrestling skills to stifle Holloway for the latter part of the fight, which could have been the deciding factor in the judges eyes. The fight could have gone either way but The Ultimate Fighter alum got the nod win his 4th straight fight since losing in the finale of the show.
In a fight of the night candidate Mike Pyle defeated Rick Story by split robbery, Story dominated most of the fight knocking Pyle down in the first and using a good top game to dominate most of the fight with Pyle occasionally attempting submissions. When it came down to it the judges gave the decision to Pyle in what has to go down as the bad call of the night.
