Another sign that UFC 135 was a success is in the viewership rating it received on the Spike Prelim Special.

The event drew in a 1.1 household rating and averaged 1.6 million viewers; however the show peaked when 1.73 million people at home tuned in to watch the two-fight, pre-pay-per-view broadcast. These figures make the show the third highest rated prelims on Spike to ever air on the cable station.

The UFC 135 Prelims on Spike featured “The Ultimate Fighter 13” winner Tony Ferguson as he scored a TKO victory over MMA veteran Aaron Riley at the culmination of the first round. Riley suffered a broken Jaw at the hands of a Ferguson punch and was unable to answer the second bell.

Also on the broadcast was the always tough, Tim Boetsch, who took on and beat Nick Ring, giving Ring his first professional loss.

To date Spike TV has aired 22 UFC prelim cards, the most popular of which was this past February when two million households tuned in for the UFC 126 event.
