While all signs point to a heavyweight title elimination fight between Travis Browne (above) and Fabricio Werdum, it seems the bout hinges on a renewed contract between Browne and the UFC.

Following his impressive first-round KO over Josh Barnett at UFC 168, Travis Browne was all but confirmed as the next opponent for heavyweight top contender, Fabricio Werdum.
There’s only one problem.
“There’s no deal done between the UFC and Travis Browne right now,” said Brown’s manager John Fosco in an interview with MMAjunkie.
“All the talks that have been had up to this point indicate that we will be getting something done in the very near future, and they’ve always been fair with Travis.”
Fosco explained how the UFC was not willing to offer Browne a new contract after he knocked out Alistair Overeem in the summer, forcing the fighter to take the fight with Barnett for less money. The Barnett fight, said Fosco, was an opportunity to “put our money where our mouth is that Travis is that guy, and he is that good.”
With an impressive performance like the one he put on at the end of the year against Josh Barnett, we can certainly expect Browne’s stock to rise in contract negotiations. Hopefully, it rose enough for Barnett and his team to get the contract they want and make the fight with Fabricio Werdum sooner rather than later.Tags: Fabricio Werdum, Josh Barnett, mma, MMA NEWS, travis browne, ufc, UFC 168, ufc news
