Tough Guy Tuesday: Sean Taylor

November 24, 2015 12:43 pm by Chris Taylor

In today’s segment of “Tough Guy Tuesday” we feature former Washington Redskins Free Safety Sean Taylor.

Following a sensational college football career with the Miami Hurricanes, which included a 2001 BCS National Championship, Sean Taylor was selected as the fifth-overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins.

Taylor played four seasons with the Washington Redskins, where he started in a total of 55 NFL games.

During that time, Sean Taylor compiled an amazing 12 interceptions, 8 forced fumbles, 2 sacks and 302 total tackles.

Taylor was considered to be one of the best and most-feared free safeties to ever play the game of football.

As you can see in the above tribute video, Taylor was fearless and would punish any receiver who dared to try and catch a ball in his section of the field.

Sean Taylor was voted to the Pro Bowl two times in his NFL career (2006 and 2007) and would likely have been a first-ballot NFL Hall-of-Famer had he played more than just four professional seasons.

Tragically, Sean Taylor was killed in his Florida home by an armed intruder in November of 2007 at just 24 years of age.

The National Football League recognized the death of Taylor by placing a #21 decal on the back of all NFL player helmets during Week 13 of the 2007 NFL season.

The Washington Redskins organization had #21 painted on their home field and also released a banner bearing his name and number following his death.

In November of 2008, Sean Taylor was inducted to the Washington Redskins Ring of Fame.

Today we honor the late, great Sean Taylor and thank him for the memories he supplied.
