This Detroit Piston Could Have Been An MMA Champion

By BJPENN.COM News - October 15, 2015

It seems like the trend this Summer was for NBA teams to work out with UFC fighters, to get in shape for the upcoming season.

The Detroit Pistons stopped by the UFC’s facilities and got the chance to workout with UFC Hall Of Fame fighter Forrest Griffin, heavyweight Stefan Struve, Alexander Gustafsson and more.

In the video above, both fighters and NBA players discuss the benefits of the MMA workout. For one it’s something new for the team to do, to bond and get a good workout in. Also, it’s good for them to get a good workout in during the offseason so the don’t go into training out of shape.

During the clip Griffin told Piston Andre Durmmond that if he’d been doing this since 16 years old he could probably be an MMA champ. Okay, so maybe they were joking around, a little, but why not?
