Thiago Silva Keeps His Place On FX 3 | Igor Pokrajac In For Injured Vera

With the recent news that Brandon Vera was forced to withdraw from his UFC on FX 3 rematch with Thiago Silva, the UFC matchmaking department went to work and found a suitable replacement for the returning Brazilian.

In the place of Vera comes Igor Pokrajac announced UFC officials earlier today.

UFC on FX 3 is set to take place from the Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA on May 15.

Brandon Vera and Thiago Silva last fought back at UFC 125 in January of last year. In the bout Silva was relentless with takedowns and displayed brutal ground and pound that disfigured Vera and got him ejected from the UFC.

However in the post-fight aftermath the Nevada State Athletic Commission found that Silva had tampered with his urine sample meant for drug screening and as a result he was suspended for a year and his victory turned into a no-contest.

Silva has not fought since his controversial no-contest against Brandon Vera and come fight time will be out nearly 1.5 years.

Pokrajac comes into the bout with a two-fight win streak on his heels. He last saw action at UFC 140 taking our friendly fan favorite, Krzysztof Soszynski via knock out in just 35 seconds.
