The last year has been plagued with injuries for Alves. Following his last fight in March 2012 where Alves was defeated by Martin Kampmann via guillotine choke, Alves has had to pull out of fights with Siyar Bahadurzada and Matt Brown due to injuries.
If Alves gets a fight at UFC 171, it will mark just over two years since the Brazilian last fought. UFC 171 will be headlined by a light heavyweight championship fight between Jon Jones and Glover Teixeira, and it is set to take place on March 15 in Dallas, Texas.Tags: Glover Teixeira, jon jones, martin kampmann, mma, MMA NEWS, Thiago Alves, thiago alves return, ufc, ufc 171, ufc news, ufc tonight
