The Ultimate Fighter Miller vs. Bisping Conference Call Highlights

September 14, 2011 3:06 pm by Pedro Carrasco

With the latest season of The Ultimate Fighter reality series kicking off next week, the UFC held a media conference call today with coaches, Michael Bisping and Jason “Mayhem” Miller to help promote next week’s launch.

Both fighter’s have a reputation for being outspoken and entertaining personalities both in and out of the cage and that was on full display this afternoon as the two fielded questions from the MMA Media on the call.

I’m a complex character? Jesus fucking christ. You have like 15 personalities. (in response to Mayhem)

Before the show I hated him. During the show I hated him. After the show I hated him. Now I look forward to kicking his ass.

I was not comfortable without the nationality angle of the first show I coached. Felt like I came off Anti-American and that is not the case.

My team was all “real fighters.” They weren’t there to get air time. They wanted to improve and make it to the big show.

I’ve never put an act on ever. I’m always me. That’s why some people care for me and some people don’t.

The show’s about the fighters and giving them a chance to break into the big time it’s not about the coaches.

Mayhem hasn’t annoyed me to the same degree as Jorge Rivera and I really want to move past that. I don’t want to give

Rivera anymore press. Jason is just an idiot and comes up with stupid shit constantly.

Rivera crossed a line. He got into family and stuff. Jason’s not like this. He’s just a bit idiotic.

Jason and I have mutual friends so we have hung out before but the more time I spent around Mayhem, the more he irritated me.

There was never any hesitation of accepting the coach role I feel it’s a prestigious honor to be invited to coach on TUF.

(To Mayhem) Sounds like you’re trying to sweeten me up so I don’t beat you up as bad in December.

The reality is there’s a downside. It means a ten-month layoff. It means a fight against Jason Miller.

Anderson Silva hasn’t wiped out the my division. He hasn’t fought me yet. I think I match up well with him.

This was always a big opportunity for Jason. He went from fighting on the undercard to fighting on a main event with me.

The only thing I shouldn’t have done in season 9 was squirt water in Damarques Johnson’s face.

Other than that, I don’t think I did anything wrong. I tried to make the show entertaining.

My coach changes had more to do with availability than anything else I used guys in America that I train with now, but I am still and will always be a part of Wolfslaire. With Rampage and Kongo the Wolfslaire is more of an international team now.

Not sure where I will hold my training camp for this fight. This first month will be here in the states and the second month is yet to be determined. I live in California now so we will see.

Bisping is a complex character. An individual you could write many tomes of knowledge on.

As the season wore on, I hated his guts. Then I didn’t care. Now I hate his guts again.

I’m here. I’ve just been admiring Mike’s handiwork (on the call). I definitely feel I got under his skin during the show.

Me and Mike, with the personality clash, put a damn good show on.

My first priority on the show was giving my full attention to the fighters. My second priority was putting on entertaining TV.

These fighters weren’t the normal crop of TUF guys. Some of these guys had 30 fights. These were developed athletes that really just needed some molding and someone to gameplan with.

There were some upsets. There were some guys who you (the media) have covered, and they didn’t get into the house.

At the end of the day, it comes down to what’s best for my career and what’s best for the UFC’s bottom line.

Looking as a TV viewer, I’m enthralled with the first two episodes of the show I’ve seen. If Spike TV is listening send me the next episode please.
Honestly, I didn’t watch Lesnar-dos Santos. I didn’t feel any pressure to put on good TV because of the last seasons failure. I contributed to the poor ratings because I didn’t watch it either.

I think they just did a better job casting this season.

I can’t imagine the Lesnar-dos Santos conference call going a quarter as well as this one, I mean, people are hitting *1 arent they?
Are you asking me if I thought the fighters on his team were bullies? C’mon man. No these guys deserve respect, I get what you’re saying, it would have been good TV if I treated the other team like Bullies on Bully beatdown and laugh at them but I didn’t hop in the cage between rounds and make fun of them.

The similarity between me and Mike is that I just try to be myself. And if you don’t like it, I don’t care.

They had a camera stuck on your face and a microphone stuck up your ass the entire time. From the second you walked up to the gym they had the camera is your face and I wasn’t used to that. It was more like a documentary that the TV show.

I couldn’t have lived in that house, at least I got to go home at night.

I can’t speak for Mike, because I can’t do that stupid accent.
