The third UFC on FOX Sports 1 fight card, slated for Sept. 4 in Brazil, is piecing together.
In a fight that was supposed to happen in May, Glover Teixeira and Ryan Bader will square off in an important light heavyweight match-up. An injury forced Bader off the Memorial Day weekend fight card so Teixeira faced James Te Huna on short notice and earned a first-round, ‘Submission of the Night’ victory. Teixeira is 4-0 since joining the UFC.
Also, in a match up UFC President Dana White confirmed was in the works weeks ago, top 185-pound contenders Yushin Okami and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza will go head-to-with the winner inching closer to a title shot. Souza (18-3) made his promotional debut by submitting Chris Camozzi at UFC on FX 8. Okami (29-7) is on a three-fight winning streak.
Brazilian news outlet Portal do Vale Tudo first reported news of the bouts and the location of the event, and MMA Junkie followed up with confirmation from sources closed to the situation. UFC officials have yet to confirm the reports.
It is unknown where any of the bouts will fall on the fight card. The third UFC on Fox Sports 1 will serve as the lead-in to The Ultimate Fighter18.Tags: Glover Teixeira, MMA NEWS, Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza, ryan bader, ufc news, UFC on FOX Sports 1, yushin okami
