‘UFC Presents Ronda Rousey: Breaking Ground’ nominated for Sports Emmy

According to a report from MMAJunkie, The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has nominated “UFC Presents Ronda Rousey: Breaking Ground” for an Emmy in the categoryof Outstanding Sports Documentary.

The one-hour documentary featuring the UFC’s women’s bantamweight champion originally aired in September of 2013 on FOX Sports 1.

According to an official release, the “UFC Presents Ronda Rousey: Breaking Ground” documentary “examines the remarkable rise of the first female champion in UFC history, detailing her childhood trauma and the complicated relationship with her mother that fueled her athletic endeavors. Featuring interviews with Rousey, her mother, friends, coaches and UFC President Dana White, it was the first comprehensive analysis of one of professional sports’ true pioneers.”

The documentary was produced by A. Smith & Co., which also produces the UFC Countdown shows on FOX Sports 1.

Other documentaries nominated in the category include NBC’s “First: The Official Film of the London Olympic Games,” Showtime’s “LT: The Life and Times” and NBA TV’s “The Doctor.”
