Rumor: Alistair Overeem set to return at UFC 164

By Chris Taylor - May 13, 2013

The 2010 K-1 World Grand Prix champion, Alistair Overeem (36-12 MMA, 1-1 UFC), is being targeted for a late summer octagon return according to multiple sources. The former Strikeforce heavyweight champion is being rumored to to compete at UFC 164, which is a pay-per-view event set for August 31 at Milwaukee’s Bradley Center.

Overeem’s opponent has yet to be announced, however, Travis Browne (14-1-1 MMA, 5-1-1 UFC) seems to be the name floating around the internet as the Reem’s future challenge.

Alistair last saw action at UFC 156 in February, where he suffered a knockout loss to Antonio Silva in the third round of their fight. Prior to the “Bigfoot” bout, Overeem defeated former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar at UFC 141 via TKO.

Who would like to see the Reem fight next? Let’s hear it Penn Nation!
