By BJPENN.COM News - June 2, 2014

Jay-Z has entered the world of Mixed Martial Arts. The iconic rapper has teamed up with MMA and UFC legend Anderson The Spider Silva to create “STATIC”, a web series that will air on Jay-Z’s Life+Times web channel. The series will take an in-depth look at the hottest rivalries in Mixed Martial Arts history, and what better one to lead with than Sonnen vs. Silva?

Other rivalries STATIC will look into are: Nick Diaz vs. Jason Miller, Ronda Rousey vs. Miesha Tate, and Dominick Cruz vs. Urijah Faber.

Below is the description for the Sonnen vs. Silva episode of STATIC, and you can catch the first episode on YouTube here.

In 2010 the biggest name and the undisputed best fighter in the UFC was Brazilian Anderson “The Spider” Silva. While Silva was the best at the time, relatively unknown Chael Sonnen felt differently and began saying so publicly and eventually getting a fight with Silva. From the minute the fight was announced, Sonnen began trash talking Silva every chance he got, from insulting his manager, his wife, and ethnicity among other things. While Sonnen seemed to revel in the talking, Silva was not a fan of it and at while at times he seemed to brush it off, he vowed to handle it in the ring. On August 7, 2010 they met for the first time in the octagon and while Sonnen essentially dominated the first 4 and half rounds, Silva would submit Sonnen with a triangle choke and retain his title as best in the world. Leading up to their second fight Sonnen continued his trash talk and was more confident based on how close he was in the first fight, however this fight would end with Silva winning with a 2nd round TKO to end all discussion of who the better fighter was. At the end of the 2nd fight, Silva called Sonnen into the ring with him and celebrated his opponent ending any problems the two may have had with each other. Featuring original interviews with Anderson Silva, Chael Sonnen, Ed Soares, Giorge Martin, Jason Miller, Dominick Cruz, Urijah Faber, Dan Henderson and Michael Bisping.
