Less than a week ago the MMA community tuned in as Georges St. Pierre made his official announcement regarding his future in MMA. Georges announced via a UFC conference call with media that he would be taking an indefinite leave of absence from MMA, but may one day return.

The 6 year welterweight kingpin vacated his belt and now Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler will fight for the vacated belt at UFC 171. In the wake of GSP’s indefinite retirement from the sport of MMA I have had to remove him from our BJPENN.com official rankings. Johny Hendricks sits at the #1 welterweight spot for the time being, with Robbie Lawler sitting at #2.

Head on over to the rankings section of our site for a complete top 10 ranking ladder for every weight division.

PENNation what do you think about GSP stepping away from the sport for a while? Sound off in the comments.
