Video | Bigfoot Silva suffers TKO loss in return to MMA

Adam D Martin - June 14, 2021

Former UFC heavyweight title challenger Bigfoot Silva suffered a TKO loss in his return to MMA this past weekend in Serbia. Silva traveled to Sabac, Serbia to take on Quentin Domingos at Megdan Fighting 9. For Silva, this was his first MMA fight since 2017 when he was knocked out by Vitaly Minakov in Russia. Since then, he has competed for GLORY kickboxing and BKFC, losing by knockout to Rico Verhoeven and Gabriel Gonzaga, respectively. But after taking the last two years off to rest up, Silva was feeling confident heading into this fight that he could get back into the win column. Unfortunately for Silva, the fight ended like many of his fights do, with him getting stopped with strikes by his opponent, though some have questioned this stoppage.

Adam D Martin - October 20, 2019

The main event of BKFC 8 didn’t last long as former UFC heavyweight contender Gabriel Gonzaga knocked out fellow MMA veteran Antonio Silva. Gonzaga and Silva were scheduled for five rounds of action, but Gonzaga needed just two rounds to finish Silva. The win was Gonzaga’s first in BKFC. Although he’s 40-years-old, the Brazilian MMA legend still possesses a ton of knockout power and showed that against Silva in this fight. It was Gonzaga’s first victory in bare-knuckle fighting.

Bigfoot Silva Will Fight Rico Verhoeven at GLORY 46

Justin Golightly - August 18, 2017

We live in a world where Conor McGregor is about to fight the very best boxer around right now, for no other reason than McGregor can pull in an absolute truckload of cold, hard cash. With that in mind, there shouldn’t be too much that could surprise any of us involved in the combat sports world. This latest news though, is a head-scratcher. Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva is expected to fight GLORY heavyweight champion Rico Verhoeven in a kickboxing match at GLORY 46 on Oct. 14 at Guangzhou Gymnasium. “Bigfoot” Silva, who is 1-8-1 in past 10 MMA fights, will face GLORY champ Rico Verhoeven in kickboxing in October https://t.co/bBgkR8JHIx

Tom Taylor - May 10, 2017

At 6’3, and more than 265 lbs, Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva is a big, big man. Though he is far from the fighter he once was, having lost seven of his last ten fights, he remains one of the most physically imposing fighters in the game. And somehow, he still seems to be getting bigger. On June 2, in St. Petersburg, Russia, Bigfoot will take on the undefeated Vitaly Minakov, who is far and away the best heavyweight outside the UFC. As this massive heavyweight showdown draws ever closer, the promoter, Fight Nights Global, has released an in-depth infographic for it, complete with recent images of both Minakov and Bigfoot. If these images are any indication, Bigfoot has been packing on some extra weight in advance of this fight.

Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva to battle Vitaly Minakov in Russia

Tom Taylor - March 15, 2017

Despite being a tough 1-6-1 in his last 8 fights, former UFC heavyweight title challenger Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva shows no signs of slowing down. Some five months removed from his corruption filled loss to Ivan Shtyrkov in Russia’s Titov Boxing Promotion, the Brazilian heavyweight will once again fight in the country, this time against former Bellator heavyweight champion Vitaly Minakov, who is far and away the best heavyweight currently competing outside the UFC. The two big men will meet under the Fight Nights Global banner in St. Petersburg, Russia, on June 2. Considering the fact that Bigfoot pocketed a whopping $200,000 for his shady loss to the relatively unknown Shtyrkov, his willingness to return to Russia to fight an opponent of Minakov’s standing is understandable. That said, the Brazilian is likely to be a substantial underdog heading into this fight, and rightly so.

Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva loses corruption-filled fight for shadowy Russian promotion

Tom Taylor - November 18, 2016

In September of this year, Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva was knocked out by Roy Nelson. The knockout marked Silva’s fifth strike-induced loss in six fights which, unsurprisingly, prompted his release from the UFC. Just days after his release from the UFC, news broke that Bigfoot had signed on for a fight in Russia, with the same league that infamously tricked Jeff Monson into competing with an injury in May of this year. As luck – or bad luck – would have it, his opponent was the same man who beat up the injured Monson in May, Ivan Shtyrkov.

Rizin FF interested in signing Bigfoot Silva

bjpenndotcom - September 29, 2016

UFC heavyweight Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva is undoubtably one of the most recognizable heavyweights in MMA. With over 11 years of experience as a professional, and notable wins over MMA icon Fedor Emelianenko, former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski, and MMA veteran Alistair Overeem to name just a few, Bigfoot is a very well known fighter in the MMA world. Unfortunately however, Silva could very well find himself as a free agent following his 1st round KO loss to Roy Nelson on the main card of ‘UFC Brasilia’ this past weekend. The loss to Nelson made it 3-straight for ‘Bigfoot’ and dropped his record to 1-4 in his last 5.
