Stipe Miocic wasn’t involved in deciding to fight Andrei Arlovski

By bjpenndotcom - October 31, 2015

Ben Rothwell was quite upset after Stipe Miocic withdrew from their ‘UFC Fight Night: Dublin’ bout and then signed to fight Andrei Arlovski at UFC 195 in January.

Rothwell went on to say that he felt it would take an act of God for him to get a fight with a top-ranked heavyweight.

As it turns out, Stipe Miocic didn’t have much say in accepting the fight with Arlovski instead of rebooking a fight with Rothwell.

He spoke to MMA Latest News:

“I’m not involved in their decision-making process. My camp notified the UFC that I would be healthy and ready to fight in January against Ben or Andrei. They chose to match me against Andrei and I accepted. My goal is to face the highest ranked fighter available who will help me get a title shot. I would have been fine fighting Ben in January but that fight was not offered to me, Arlovski was. He is ranked higher and we took the fight.”
