Every once in a while, it’s nice to break away from the cynical, sensational and sometimes judgmental stories that MMA sites typically churn out, and have ourselves a little feelgood story.
Well, here it is.
Stefan Struve – the freakishly tall heavyweight who had been sidelined by a heart condition – has been cleared to resume his MMA career. And he will do so against Matt Mitrione, at UFC 175. UFC.com had this to say about Struve’s phoenix-like return to action:
Out of action since March of 2013, Stefan Struve will make his long-awaited return to the Octagon on Saturday, July 5, when he faces Matt Mitrione in a heavyweight bout to take place on the UFC 175 card at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
Winner of four of his last five, Struve was sidelined as a precautionary measure due to the discovery of a rare heart condition, but after following doctors’ treatment, he was cleared to resume his fighting career, and this summer he will meet Mitrione, who has won two of his last three, most recently a first round knockout of Shawn Jordan in March.
We here at BJPenn.com want to welcome Struve back to active competition, and wish him nothing but success.heavyweight, matt mitrione, mma, MMA NEWS, Stefan Struve, ufc, UFC 175, ufc news
