Chael Sonnen is without a doubt, the most entertaining fighter outside the cage that the UFC has.
His trash talking is legendary, right up there with Muhammad Ali; and his ability to sell a fight can be compared to no one. This past Friday, prior to the UFC 145 weigh-ins Sonnen somehow managed to top himself again, he took the stage to perform a little number he wrote for the UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva.
Sonnen, the self-proclaimed “People’s Champion” went at Silva like when Tupac went after Biggie in his “Hit em’ up” diss track. Sonnen rapped, “When I beat you in Brazil I’ll leave a whole lot richer/but I’m not going anywhere until that old lady makes me a steak dinner”.
Sonnen even took time to verbally attack Silva’s training partner and friend Lyoto Machida, “Karate boy Machida, will he show up/with some fresh warm pee-pee in a Starbucks cup”? Sonnen also claimed that in their last fight it was him that tapped, but Silva that broke; and that he loves easy fights like Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort.
Then, in response to a fans question Sonnen replied, “I’m not a martial artist, I’m a gangster from West Lynn, Oregon and I win fights with these (holding his fist up) and I make no apology”.
Clearly Sonnen has won the war of words between the two men. Will he be able to win when it counts though?
Dana White announced earlier today from a press conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil that the rematch between the two fighters will be moved to UFC 148 in Las Vegas. It was originally slated for UFC 147 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil however, due to a United Nations meeting sheduled for that same week in Rio the fight was forced to be moved. The decision will definitely upset many Brazilian fans that were very excited at the chance to see Chael Sonnen and Anderson Silva at home, where Silva would without a doubt be the fan favorite.
